Florida Bondsman Involved in Pursuit

Bail bondsman were looking for Pedro Lopez, who was out on bail for a previous felony drug possession charges. In addition to the bail violation Brevard County Sheriff’s Office was looking for Lopez due to a violation of probation.

The bondsmen located Lopez in Cocoa, Florida near the intersection of State Road 520 and I-95. Lopez who was driving a vehicle at the time, fled by driving south on I-95 while the bondsmen remained behind him. During the chase Lopez exited the interstate in the city of Rockledge where he struck two other vehicles and ultimately came to a stop.

The bondsmen were able to restrain Lopez at the scene and turned him over to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office for processing.

The bondsmen reported to the Sheriff’s Office that Lopez may have discarded an item into a small retention pond near the area that the vehicles came to a rest. The Sheriff’s Office dispatched the dive team but no evidence was located.

There were no injuries reported and the bondsman will not face any charges, officials stated.
